Set out before adhesive
Every job starts with a dry lay and a marked set-out line, so full tiles land on the main sight line and the cuts finish where nobody looks first.
Tiling contractor · Perth, Western Australia
A Western Australian tiling contractor working on bathrooms, kitchens, large-format floors and modular fitouts, based in Perth's northern suburbs.
How we work
Most tiling problems are set-out problems, preparation problems or timing problems. We deal with all three before the first tile is fixed.
Every job starts with a dry lay and a marked set-out line, so full tiles land on the main sight line and the cuts finish where nobody looks first.
Falls, junctions and penetrations are prepared and waterproofed before anything is fixed over them — it is the one part of a bathroom nobody can repair later without pulling it apart.
We work to the builder's program, take handover from the plumber or plasterer, and leave the space swept and ready for the next trade on site.
What we tile
Domestic renovations, new residential work and repeat modular fitouts for builders — ceramic, porcelain, stone and large-format formats.
Full bathroom, ensuite and laundry tiling — floor falls to waste, hobless shower recesses, niches and full-height wall sets.
Splashbacks and benchtop surrounds cut around power points, rangehoods and window returns, with joints lined through to the cabinetry.
600 × 600 and larger porcelain laid over levelled and primed slabs, with the lippage control and back-buttering big formats need.
Repeatable tile sets for modular builds, transportable units and multi-unit fitouts, run to one set-out so every module matches the last.
Order of works
Tiling is a sequence, and skipping a stage always shows up in the finish. This is the order we hold to on every job.
Measure the space, confirm tile size and margins, then mark set-out lines so full tiles land where the eye goes first.
Screeding, levelling, falls to the waste and priming, so the finished surface is flat and drains where it should.
Membrane to wet-area floors, junctions and penetrations, left to cure properly before any fixing starts over it.
Tiles fixed to the set-out with the adhesive and bond pattern the substrate and format call for.
Grouting, silicone to movement and internal joints, a clean down, then a walk-through of the finished work.
The company
Perth Modular Tiling Pty Ltd is an Australian registered company working from Perth's northern suburbs. The name describes how we work: we break a job into modules — a shower recess, a splashback run, a floor field, a unit type — and set each one out so it can be repeated exactly across a house, a block or a production run.
That approach suits renovation clients who want the tiling to line through from room to room, and it suits builders running multiple identical units who need module six to look like module one.
